Does an applicant have to be Catholic to apply?
Not at all! We welcome all faiths at Our Lady of Pompeii School!
But, keep in mind, we are a Catholic school. Religion is a daily subject taught and all students will attend Morning Prayer each day and monthly liturgies. Students are to be respectful during these services and to follow Catholic teachings in our building, like kindness, respect, integrity, honesty, etc.
If Catholic, will applicants make their Sacraments at OLP?
Yes. Catholic students will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation at OLP Church along with their classmates during the appropriate school year.
If applicant chooses to be baptized , arrangements can be made with Our Lady of Pompeii Church or your local parish.
How do I apply to OLP?
Click the link to the left for Online Admissions and fill out application.
Applicants will then be called in for a Shadow Day where documents necessary to complete application package are submitted.
Work completed on the Shadow Day, an interview with the teacher and our principal along with current report cards & state test scores will then determine acceptance to OLP.
Decision will be sent via email within 3 days of applicant's Shadow Day.
Does OLP accept applications in the middle of a school year?
Enrollment is open and ongoing at OLP- new students are continously accepted.
Do you offer aid for families who need it?
Yes, of course. All applicants are able and encouraged to apply for aid as they apply for admissions. Just follow the Online Admissions link to the left.
Does OLP allow students to shadow for a day?
Yes, of course. We want to meet all of our applicants and they should meet us! It will help determine if we are a fit!
Does OLP require a test for admission?
Not always. The applicants who come in for a Shadow Day during the school year will do the work assigned to students in class for the day. That work is collected by the teacher and used to help determine acceptance to OLP.
Students who come in for a Shadow Day during the summer when school is not in session will sit for a placement exam.
Does OLP accomodate students with an IESP?
A meeting with our principal about your child's specific need will let us know if OLP can offer applicant the necessary help. After we review the IESP and speak to parent, we will determine if OLP is the right fit for applicant.
How can an applicant prepare for their Shadow Day at OLP?
Get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast and come prepared to work. But, no worries! The work assigned will be appropriate for their current grade level.
What should an applicant wear for their Shadow Day at OLP?
Whatever makes them feel most comfortable.
Our PK & K Shadow Days are only an hour so aim for comfy clothes.
Shadow Days for all other grades are half-day sessions. Some students will go back to their current school so they attend in their current school uniforms while others feel most comfortable in jeans. Their choice...however, we ask that all clothing is appropriate for a school day.
What should an applicant bring to their Shadow Day at OLP?
A notebook or some paper, something to write with and a snack for applicants in Grades 1-5 staying until lunchtime.
An applicant may bring in their mobile phone. However, all electronics will be held by the teacher until child leaves for the day, as is the process with our current students.
How many recommendations are required in the admissions process?
No recommendation letters are mandatory. However, we will gladly accept with the application process, if you'd like to turn some in.

Keep in mind, no tours are done on First Friday's of the Month or on days before we break for a Holiday.
Do we have to sign-up for the open house?
Yes, RSVP's are encouraged.
Can student applicants come?

Open Houses are from 9am-11am? Do we have to stay for the full two hours?
No way! We have continuous tours, so come any time during the two hours. The tours are given by our 8th Grade students and take about half an hour. At the end of the tour, we invite you to visit with our current parents and then meet with our Principal, Sr. Diane.
Stay as long as you like then.
